Westgate Group of Schools
Where tradition meets innovation — nurturing tomorrow's leaders in Kinoo Muthiga.
Our Story
From humble beginnings as Westgate Shield School in 2008 to our position today as a premier educational group, we have consistently delivered exceptional academic results while nurturing character and holistic development.
Our journey began in Gitaru, where founders Mrs. Josephine Gathii and Mr. Peter Gathii established a strong foundation for excellence. We grew in Muguga, Kiambaa, expanding our facilities and impact.
In 2018 we moved to Kinoo Muthiga, transforming to our current day school. Here we continue our tradition of outstanding KCPE performance, innovative teaching, and our commitment to Christian values and Kenyan heritage.

The educators and leaders who built our school
Mrs. Josephine Gathii
Founder, Director & Educational Psychologist
With 15 years at Kidfarmaco Primary School and studies at Kilimambogo Teachers College and the University of Nairobi (M.A. Psychology), Josephine's passion for education laid the foundation for Westgate. She serves as church leader and treasurer at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kikuyu, and offers psychological services at Kenyatta National Hospital for our school community.
Her dream is to expand Westgate's reach through multiple branches, creating a lasting educational legacy.
Mr. Peter Gathii Reuben
Co-Founder, Strategic Director & Project Manager
Peter brought strategic and project management skills from the start—identifying the Gitaru location, marketing, and construction. He was Chairman during the building of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In April 2023 he was appointed to the KLDC Board of Directors by the Ministry of Agriculture (Gazette Notice No. 4396).
As Director at Kenashi International Limited, he continues to drive Westgate's operations and growth.
“Together, Josephine and Peter represent the perfect balance of educational passion and strategic vision—a teacher's heart combined with a builder's mind. Their complementary strengths have created not just a school, but an educational legacy that continues to transform lives.”
